We did with our first set of chickens and they layed thru the winter, we now have our chickens to far from the homestead to offer extra lighting. The Cuckoo Morans are the pickiest little things yet! We will keep the Barred Rocks in mind. Thanks.
Schoohouse FarmersThe Schoolhouse Farmershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08938572263345700385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2966243700142972175.post-17247932572175842832011-01-11T14:41:51.350-05:002011-01-11T14:41:51.350-05:00One thing we have found that works for our water i...One thing we have found that works for our water issues is to put our waterer actually inside a heated dog bowl. It works really well. Also, we have found that Barred Rocks pretty much always keep laying through the winter....all our hens are still laying daily. Did you happen to hide a medallion in the cake? When I first learned of this tradition in Paris, the little ceramic treasure was the point of the whole thing for little children. Whoever discovered the medallion in their slice was King! So happy to see this being made in the USA. I hope you will make this available alongside your other wonderful products at Schoolhouse Farms in 2011.Maureenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01910038099241324584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2966243700142972175.post-7780942277571030092010-10-21T22:19:54.851-04:002010-10-21T22:19:54.851-04:00Simply gorgeousSimply gorgeousSLOfoodiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16935787928676866843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2966243700142972175.post-70629208009867014172010-10-21T22:19:07.708-04:002010-10-21T22:19:07.708-04:00Simply gorgeousSimply gorgeousSLOfoodiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16935787928676866843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2966243700142972175.post-26464730490525829022010-10-20T14:32:39.512-04:002010-10-20T14:32:39.512-04:00I could read this little prose carefully. I’m sorry that I wrote easily “I enjoyed your blog” even though I couldn’t understand everything. I will take time to read it from now on. Pumpkin is one of my favorite vegetables. My grandma liked kabocha miso soup. Last year I had a chance to eat various kinds of pumpkins that I’ve not eaten in Japan. Your farm must have more varieties. I feel that colorful vegetables are glad to grow in your thoughtful farm. I was assisted by your lovely children, who not only explained the different heirloom varieties but told me how customers prepare the red okra, etc.
I am a freelance writer and editor and food blogger in Syracuse.
